About the SWATCH ART RULES DESIGN CONTEST:
Now in its third year, the Swatch Art Rules Design Contest has garnered massive awareness from artists and designers around the world. More than 3,000 participants from 90 countries registered, with over 1,300 design proposals submitted. The winner earns an invaluable chance to be part of an internationally recognized design project, for both the trophy and a matching Swatch New Gent watch. The TTR World Tour special watch will be produced using the contest winner’s design and distributed worldwide in 2012/13.
An international jury consisting of snowboard and art experts including Arlette-Elsa Emch (President of Swatch), Reto Lamm (President of TTR), former pro snowboarder Ingemar Backmann, Baptiste Bourgain from Fubiz (French street culture blog) and Kassia Meador (Swatch Proteam), pro longboard surfer and photographer, chose Marta Zarina-Gelze as this year’s winner. Zarina-Gelze’s design focuses on capturing the sensation of winning, expressed by the TTR trophy recipient. The unique addition of a sound dimension landed the design in first place, highlighting the excitement and raw enthusiasm of future 2012/13 TTR champions.
